Deutsche Telekom AG Migrates to Ixia's High-Density 10 GE Testing Solution
Ixia Fulfills on Promises of Agilent N2X Acquisition FUSION Program
Calabasas, CA June 28, 2010 – Ixia (NASDAQ: XXIA), a leading, global provider of converged network IP performance test systems, announced today that Deutsche Telekom AG will migrate to Ixia’s newly announced NGY high-density 10 GE testing solution. The NGY hardware provides a seamless integration path for customers who want to take advantage of previous investment in IxN2X software and test scripting while requiring higher-density 10GE hardware previously not offered by the Agilent N2X product line. This melding of the N2X and Ixia product lines fulfills the promise of Ixia’s FUSION program announced in conjunction with the acquisition of the Agilent N2X platform.
Deutsch Telekom is using IxN2X to perform layer 2-3 testing of their network backbone under high traffic conditions, as well as to scale up traffic levels to see how the network performs under stressful load conditions. Ixia’s NGY emulates internet-scale routing topologies and traffic profiles, proving that DT’s network scales successfully without degradation in performance.
“Migrating to Ixia's next generation NGY load modules allows us to qualify and test QoS with large scale routers before putting them into our live network,” said Peter Pipping, Vice President System Qualification of DT’s Technical Engineering Center. “The NGY modules can be used with our existing IxN2X software and scripts, so integration was seamless.”
The just-released NGY is the next generation of Ixia’s IxYukon, a high quality, field-proven load module family. Ixia's IxYukon family of load modules is the industry’s highest density 10G traffic generation solution, and offers complete layer 2-7 packet generation, routing emulation, and application testing. NGY modules, in conjunction with an XM12 chassis, provide up to 96 10 GE ports of testing power.
Ixia acquired Agilent’s N2X product line in October 2009 and committed to develop and enhance the IxN2X test platform. The FUSION program was introduced to ensure that customer investments were protected, and that IxN2X customers would have access to Ixia's industry-leading, high-density, 10 GE hardware for use in high-scale performance testing.
“Since its acquisition in October 2009, IxN2X has become an important part of our testing arsenal, and we’re determined to provide world-class software and hardware support and technology advances,” said Atul Bhatnagar, president and CEO of Ixia. “With the ability to support high-density 10GE modules, and the release of the 6.13 software, Ixia has clearly demonstrated its commitment to deliver a simple and customer-friendly IxN2X migration path, and to provide enhancements through integration with the rest of the Ixia portfolio.
Ixia is a leading provider of converged IP performance test systems and service verification platforms for wireless and wired infrastructures and services. Ixia’s test systems are used by network and telephony equipment manufacturers, semiconductor manufacturers, service providers, governments and enterprises to validate the performance and reliability of complex networks, devices and applications. Ixia’s multiplay test systems address the growing need to test voice, video and data services and network capability under real-world conditions.
